Moon Tower cache 3 & 4

Went w MB on a ride to go grab 2 more moon tower caches. First moon tower was on Speedway, i've known about this tower for a while. Found the cache using the phone (ugh, my ebay gps stinks!) Then to remember that I forgot a pen. There was a cool coin inside, question is, is it trackable? Since we couldn't sign the log, we left it, (I think) I did try to sign the log w/ mud 7 a stick...fail.




Now on to Moon Tower #4 in west campus. I don't recall ever seeing one, so instead of using the gps, we used our eyes. After not having anyluck, we rode to the top of th Coop Parking garage to look for it. GPS & phone said it was 500 ft in the direction of a tall building, So we rode towards that building. I soon spotted just the base (the towere was missing) had read earlier that this tower was hit by a car at some point & 'rebuilt' I guess the base was the rebuild.

we looked for several minutes trying to find the cache. MB did find a penny pressed into one of the towers for a guideline, from 1991, so after the car hit it in the early 1990's. So, after a DNF, we headed to spicy pickle so MB could get a sandwich, I went next door to 7-11 to get the best sandwich--ice cream. Then back home.

lotsa updates

It's been a while since I blogged.
3 days of commuting to work, one day included using the new panniers I found on Craigslist...if I name the bike, I guess it should be Craig, but I don't name bikes & cars.



I noticed on my neglected road bike that I was 5 miles to 12000 miles, so last Weds I went out for what was supposed to be a 45 minute ride.
I hit 12,000 miles on the Hancock bridge, stopped to take the obligatory photos.





Then I noticed my headlight dimming, so I decided to climb the big hill at Hancock & Balcones. I was halfway up & the light went out, then I relized it was hard to climb...I hadn't shitfted! So into the granny gear I went & I flew up the rest, fun time coming down sans lights! But since this road isn't highly traveled, I did the climb again. by the end of the night I hit 37 mins and a whopping 7 miles! But I passed the 12K mark! Time for a beer!

new cross bike!

found a cross bike on Craigs list that should fit me with a few adjustments! After riding it 18 miles I still need to tweak the seat (up at least 1/2") and buy a new seat. there's not much room on the bar, so one day I'll mess with moving the brake levers.


for the maiden voyage, I rode home from work...isn't this why I bought this bike? Ride home was great! on Rollingwood, I flew over the pot holes! then on the Johnson Creek trail I was able to take the shortcut & then not worry about rocks!



on the way to work, I had to face the hills! 41.5 when I left the house...burr. warmed up quickly. loved being able to go on the dirt short cut to the exit ramp without worries. def need to adjust the seat and buy a new one.

I'll put the computer on tonight, need to get a rack & panniers..I think I'm going to like this bike once it's all adjusted.

shorts & shortsleeves in February!

Feb 1, amazing weather! I was able to bike into work wearing arm warmers, then on the way home, none!

Nothing too exciting on these rides, except for the fantastic weather!

Met up w/ KPT & Victor for the ride home, we toured Scenic Rd & Pecos, then went home on a really cool residential street that parallels Mopac, I must remember to take it home.
