EHCT-2012

Last year I had plans to ride in the Easter Hill Country Tour , not sure what happened, but I did not go. Luckily this year KPT & V were all 'In'!

Left from work on Thursday with a beer in the hand to make the journey to Kerrville. Once there we found Schreiner University to grab our packets.

What's interesting about EHCT, is there isn't a mass start, you start when you want to. The routes are clearly marked, The rest stops are only opened a certain number of hours, so you have to plan accordingly. Each day there are several routes to choose from.

For Friday we decided to do the 39.8 mile route, that way we would save some energy for Saturday and do 61 miles.

Little did we know the 1557 feet in climbing along with the 85 degrees would get to us. Looking back on the routes, we prob should have done the 55 on Friday (same amount of climbing, flatter coming back home).

Bummed, kinda, that I took a hike w my bike, but I could not breathe!

We relaxed, ate and drank a few beers, pretty much lazy the rest of the day.
But we did reach a consensus that 33 miles for the next day would be enough.

On Saturday, we finally hit the road by 11:30 (what 8 am start?)As we were leaving more were finishing, but we weren't last. There was one big climb that I would hike up. Gotta get stronger! But after that ride we were on a very cool country road, then it was all downhill coming back.

We realized before we went to bed at 9:55PM, that if we rode 28 miles we would hit 100 miles for the weekend, so instead of driving to Schreiner U we road and added on the extra 8 miles.

Great weekend! I can't wait to do it next year!
