new cross bike!

found a cross bike on Craigs list that should fit me with a few adjustments! After riding it 18 miles I still need to tweak the seat (up at least 1/2") and buy a new seat. there's not much room on the bar, so one day I'll mess with moving the brake levers.


for the maiden voyage, I rode home from work...isn't this why I bought this bike? Ride home was great! on Rollingwood, I flew over the pot holes! then on the Johnson Creek trail I was able to take the shortcut & then not worry about rocks!



on the way to work, I had to face the hills! 41.5 when I left the house...burr. warmed up quickly. loved being able to go on the dirt short cut to the exit ramp without worries. def need to adjust the seat and buy a new one.

I'll put the computer on tonight, need to get a rack & panniers..I think I'm going to like this bike once it's all adjusted.

Feb 1, amazing weather! I was able to bike into work wearing arm warmers, then on the way home, none!

Nothing too exciting on these rides, except for the fantastic weather!

Met up w/ KPT & Victor for the ride home, we toured Scenic Rd & Pecos, then went home on a really cool residential street that parallels Mopac, I must remember to take it home.

Moon Tower Cache Ride #1

Rides w/ MB have to be destination rides. I don't think I'll ever get her to just ride on a country road, something I'll have to learn to accept.

So Saturday when I found out the ride would just be MB, I started looking at geo caches...found a moon tower series..perfect...

mapped out how to get to them if we did them in order, then I realized we wouldn't have the time to do 5, so I figured we could do #'s 3 & 4. She arrived early so I thought, great we can do #'s 1 &2

First stop: Moon Tower #1 at the corner of 12th & Rio Grande.

On the way back we rode down Congress, must stop at Home Slice. I started to panic when I found out it was 2:30 (we just ordered) and I hada massage appt at 4... I finally got over it.

It was a great day for a ride & I enjoyed the riding & geo caching, I just need to adjust my atitude & acceptance level on some things...once again realizing D will never be replaced.

To work & home again..

For the past 2 Friday's I've completed a full commute to work, this one included carrying my clothes and riding in 45 degree weather to work.

Nothing too exciting as it was a commute, I did take advice from the Eagles and "took it easy"

So wishing I had a bike w/ a rack & paniers...or am I just being silly...I really do want to tour & riding to work & back w paniers would help get me in shape. Guess I'll know in a week if I'll be interviewing for the backroads job or not.

silly how a little bit of cement can make the ride a bit better..

another sunny day in January.
Nice 20 mile ride w/ KPT & Victor, stayed in town.
two exciting things happened, K & V thought they were going down a hill that was Mesa, nope, it was steeper...then I had a flat.
I stopped to find a cache on Mesa, 3rd for the year. Had to climb a tree in my bike shoes.

Who would have thought I"d have over 100 miles on my bike in January? I think the nice weather is over for a while.

to work & back in 1 day in January

Who would have thought I could ride to work in January wearing shorts, a jersey & arm warmers & not be cold? Well it happened!
Weather was supposed to be extremely warm on Friday. Morning low 67, high 75, so I HAD to ride to work! But my legs were still tired from boot camp & Tuesday's ride in, so I rode to work Foghat style 'Slow ride take it easy'. My goal was to be as close to 55 mins as possible. I hit 53:50, not bad.



I never really did get sunny, but the temp was about 73 on the way home. No arm warmers needed! Easy ride home, 42 mins.

Very reflective oonsidering when I first commuted to work, it did take at least 50 mins, wow has my physical condition changed in 3 years! For the better!
